Levels of Reiki
Traditional Reiki has three levels, which might be further sub-divided.
Reiki First Degree:
This is the simplest level of Reiki, and at times, some people are at this
level even before attunement, although they do not realise it. The first
degree is primarily for self healing, and enables the student to heal self/
others by touch. It is also called proximity healing for this reason.
Reiki Second Degree:
This degree should be taken after the student has practiced Reiki 1 healing
daily for atleast three months. It is four times more powerful than Reiki 1
and hence the student's body should be prepared to take that amount of sudden
rush of energy.
This degree enables the student to heal irrespective of time and space.
Healing can be sent to others no matter how far they are, and the past or
future can be healed as well. With practice, a second degree healer can send
Reiki to others through his/ her third eye too. The channel also starts to
develop his intuition at this level.
Reiki Third Degree:
This is often divided into three further parts, for the student's benefit.
Reiki Master Healer:
Also called Reiki 3A degree, this degree is atleast ten times more powerful
than Reiki 2. For best results, it should be learnt after the student has
practiced Reiki 2 self-healing daily for atleast three years.
With practice, this level makes the channel so strong, that Reiki energy can
be sent just by thinking of a person or event.
Reiki Master:
A Reiki Master is capable of teaching the first two degrees to interested
healers.
In many lineages, Mastership is not asked for, but offered to a deserving
student, by his/ her teacher. It requires the student to be at a level high
enough to be able to clean other people's channels.
Reiki Grand Master:
A Reiki Grandmaster has completed all the levels of Reiki and can attune
others to all degrees, including the Reiki grandmastership degree.
